Emergency appointment cost
Emergency appointments: £60
This includes any x-rays we take, and most emergency treatment that we provide during the emergency appointment.
Occasionally, if time permits, we might offer a permanent treatment option during the appointment which may cost more. We will always explain any additional costs and still give the option of temporary treatment where appropriate.
We are transparent about fees and will never carry out treatment without your consent.
If your problem happens overnight or out of hours
If your dental problem starts when we are closed, there are safe steps you can take until we reopen.
Pain relief you can take at home
For most dental pain, over-the-counter pain relief may help temporarily:
Paracetamol and ibuprofen taken together or separately are very effective for most dental and oral pain.
If you are unsure if it is safe for you take ibuprofen or paracetamol (e.g. if you have an allergy, asthma sensitive to NSAIDs, stomach ulcers, gastrointestinal bleeding, heart failure, or you are pregnant) or you already know you are unable to use them, then ask your pharmacist for advice or visit the NHS 111 website.
When a dental problem is a true emergency
Most dental ’emergencies’ are urgent rather than life-threatening, and can wait until we are open.
However, seek immediate medical help if you experience:
- Persistent bleeding (after applying pressure for 60 minutes)
- Severe facial swelling which is rapidly worsening, spreading, closing your eye, preventing you from opening your mouth, or affecting your ability to swallow or breathe
- Severe dental trauma (E.g. a recently knocked out tooth)
Visit the NHS 111 website or call NHS 111 for further help and advice right away. You may need to see an emergency NHS dentist or attend your local hospital’s Accident and Emergency Department.
