“We had such a lovely experience at this new dentist on Park Road. From the moment we arrived, everyone was welcoming, friendly, and made my son Jake feel completely comfortable.

The appointment was so thorough and never felt rushed. It was a really good consultation and check-up, and the dentist took the time to talk us through Jake’s teeth, give him great advice on brushing, and explain everything clearly. He also had a fluoride polish, which was a lovely addition to his visit.

We also learned about a product they recommended that temporarily stains the teeth so children can actually see the areas where they need to brush better — something we had never heard of before, but such a clever and useful idea. We decided to purchase this from the practice and are looking forward to using it to help Jake improve his brushing routine.

It was so nice to have someone take the time to build a relationship with Jake and make visiting the dentist feel relaxed and positive. He was absolutely thrilled with his car sticker too!

I live nearby, when my mum had a toothache. The dentist was very professional and did a great job. My mum had her tooth extracted with no pain or swelling afterwards.

Parking is also very convenient, just opposite the clinic and less than a 3-minute walk away. Very happy with the service. Highly recommended!”

The short review is that my experience with Dr David Burton and Leanne was so effortless, with none of the tedium that often comes with dental work. They made me feel seen, supported, and reassured through the emergency appointment process and I left with a massive renewed appreciation for modern dentistry.

The long review is that I have not had a dental appointment in 13 years (due to a multitude of factors but primarily depression and, honestly, shame) but, due to a pretty nasty migraine and a little too much teeth grinding, something happened to one of my molars and I was in agony. I booked an appointment after seeing Park Road Dental Care on Google.

Originally, I had booked in for Friday, but after a nice lengthy 50 minute hold call with 111 on Monday morning, I managed to secure an emergency NHS appointment later that day and cancelled my appointment with Park Road.

Leanne, the wonderful dental nurse, gave me a call on Monday lunch time to check in and see if everything was okay. I explained my situation and she advised that they did have appointments available that day if the NHS one does not pan out and I thanked her. Really, who is doing it like that these days! She went out of her way to see that I was okay and offered support if my situation was to change… which, eventually, it did. My NHS appointment was scheduled for the following day. Call it impatience or temporary insanity caused by the pain, but I simply could not wait that long. I had no focus, little food, and about three hours sleep across six half hour naps. I called Leanne back and set up an appointment within the hour.

I was half a hour early (very eager!) but within minutes of arriving at the surgery, I was laying in the chair being checked over by Dr Burton and discussing options. I held a LOT of shame over my teeth and was a little scared but the environment and entire vibe of the whole appointment was very calm with no accusatory language or cautionary tales. I know my teeth are messed up and you can obviously see the damage from looking at them, but the only lesson that I received from the appointment was that dentists are nothing to be afraid of. They are there to provide you options and solutions. They’re there to help! We discussed what I could financially afford and settled on an extraction. David got that tooth out of me quicker than you can say “Dr Burton, please extract this tooth from me.”

Okay, a slight exaggeration. It was maybe a minute of pulling, max. Root and all!

I walked out of my appointment — toothless, £125 lighter (extraction cost and appointment cost, minus deposit paid online) — at the time my appointment was originally scheduled to start, which meant I was able to head back to work and actually focus on tasks without the throbbing ache in my jaw. I’m sure my team are glad for this because it means I’ve stopped complaining about it all the time. I didn’t realise the extent of the pain until I didn’t feel it anymore. Now, I can’t stop smiling. They even let me keep my tooth as a souvenir! Some might think that a little macabre, but it’s a nice reminder of everything they did for me, and the start of my journey to getting back on top of my dental health. The jury is out on if I want to make it into a necklace or not…

If you read all this, but why have you not booked an appointment yet? I’m going to get back to eating my soft foods and using a saltwater rinse.

“I have always had a fear of dentists. Every time I have had work done it’s been a bad experience, painful and not at all an enjoyable experience. Park Road Dental completely superseded my expectations. They were quick, friendly and very delicate with my teeth. I had fillings and I experienced no pain at all. Very knowledgeable and welcoming. 5 stars for how they handled a wuss like myself. I went in terrified and came out very surprised. They have done teeth cleaning very well previously and fillings for me this time which was actually done so well I was able to relax in the chair throughout the whole thing! They have great availability and fair pricing which is what led me to them originally and the lady on reception is very friendly and comforting!”

“I have had many issues with my teeth for many years, been in and out of dentists but never ever seemed to get out of pain and looked after to the point that all I required was the normal six monthly check-up. I don't live far from park road and whilst out walking I noticed that Park Road Dental Practice had opened.

I registered and can't be more happier that I did. They are more than polite, take time and listen to your requirements and what's more have done more to resolve my issues than any dentist previous.
